Paradigm Reference Earns "Showstopper" Status from Soundstage!

It wasn’t that many years ago that Paradigm made only conventional-looking speakers and subwoofers in rectangular boxes at prices low enough that most people could afford them. For a very long time, they were known for products that provided great value but didn’t necessarily represent the state of the art.

Though still a leader on the budget side, in recent years Paradigm has gone upscale to challenge the best there is, and there’s no better evidence of that than their new Reference Signature Sub 2 (front left) and Reference Signature Sub 1 powered subwoofers. These aren’t like the Paradigms of yesteryear, and the company knows it. Their product literature boldly proclaims: "Our most ambitious subwoofer to date . . . loaded with cutting-edge technology!" Signature v.3 Covered in Soundstage!

Paradigm just released the third version of their Signature speakers called, appropriately, v.3. The largest and most expensive speaker in the series is the floorstanding S8 (far left), priced at $3499 each. The smallest and lowest-priced model is the stand-mounted S1 (second from right on stand), priced at $599 each (with G-PAL gold-anodized aluminum-dome tweeter, $799 each with P-Be beryllium-dome tweeter). The v.3 speakers are said to have 3dB greater sensitivity that the v.2 models, and all of the speakers incorporate Paradigm's new Non-Limiting Corrugated (NLC) surround technology that is said to offer 50% more driver travel and lower distortion. Home Theater Magazine Show Report

Home Theater Magazine asked the question "Perfect Bass Forever?" And the answer is yes. They reported on the launch of the DSP and Ultracube subwoofers that now include the Paradigm Perfect Bass Kit (PBK). Further down the page is a preview of the new Paradigm SE Series, a series that fits between the Monitor and Studio line up. Home Entertainments Dennis Berger was impressed with our new Paradigm Reference Seismic 110. "Paradigm announced today that it's highly anticipated Seismic 110 Subwoofer will be shipping at the end of October. Admit it: The first thing that went through your head when you saw this diminutive little powerhouse was, "Awww, how cute." Right? With its sleek, curvilinear diecast monocoque exterior and its oversized paws tucked neatly underneath, one can’t help but look at this little fellow and wish it had a chin to scratch." Paradigm puts its name to version 3 of its Reference Signature lineup

Sitting atop Paradigm's range of speakers is the Reference Signature series which while not cheap, have historically offered up performance that bests many speakers that cost way more. The propellerheads at Paradigm have been busy refining things and have released the third version of these speakers as, you guessed it, Reference Signature v.3. The previous two versions have set a high standard, but the third time's a charm. Paradigm engineers are promising a 3dB increase in sensitivity thanks to new driver materials, motor designs and plenty of design time using finite element analysis. That should bring plenty of sound from a handful of Watts, and hopefully will translate into some serious dynamic range when paired with an appropriate amp. To read the full release, click here.
